I used the protractor and a ruler to carefully measure out all of the angles, making it neater than the previous color wheel. This was how big each triangle was ot be in degrees. I also divided 360 by 12, which gave me 30. So for my second color wheel, I used the looser technique with much better results. So I completed the rest of the color wheel using the more loose technique.Īs you can see, there is a very notable difference between the purple, red, green and yellow compared to the rest of the colors. Zamula advised me halfway through my color wheel to loosen my grip when drawing the color wheel, and this proved to make the color mixing a more successful process. I tried to create my color wheel by applying a lot of pressure to the colored pencils I was using, and this caused the colors to become rather distorted. I took a container to make the circle, and then I just blindly drew 6 intersecting line through it to make twelve non-even triangles. The first color wheel I made did not really work very well. Afterwards, I would create the rest of the colors by mixing two of the three colors I mentioned above. In order to make my color wheel, I decided to use only three color pencils a red, a yellow and a blue. It was invented by Sir Isaac Newton way back in 1666, and since then, many artists and scientists have created their own versions of the color wheel, which have caused many debates, but in truth, any color wheel that has a logically arranged sequence of hues is valid. The color wheel is essentially a circle of color based on red, yellow and blue. This helped me keep in mind that there is not one single color wheel all artists use, and this means that there is not necessarily one ‘correct’ color wheel, there are many. But an overall idea I got from the research was that in reality, any color circle or color wheel which presents a logically arranged sequence of pure hues is valid. Afterwards, I delved into some more websites and I Straight off the bat, I found out that there are 3 important factors of color theory, and they were the color wheel, color harmony, and the context of how colors are used, or in other words, colors in relation to each other. The first piece of advice I found was that Color theories create a logical structure for color. I began to research and I started to find out more about color theory, something which I had no idea about previously. Last class, we finished our group project and we began a new unit, on color theory.
